Sri Lankan apparel industry plays a vital role in the country’s economy. It is one of the fast-moving industries when compared to others. To compete at the global level, manufacturing systems should be agile, and management should be capable of making quick decisions. Performance measuring in the Sri Lankan apparel industry is mainly done manually. There is a high possibility of the measures being inaccurate due to the fast moving nature of the apparel industry. Hence there is a need for automating the performance evaluation process in the apparel industry. This study presents a sensor-based method for real-time monitoring and visualization of performance measures with the use of IoT and cloud computing. It will generate a real-time updating Yamazumi chart on Microsoft Power Bi. As a result of this methodology, management can observe the performances of the manufacturing system in real-time and make quick decisions to improve productivity.
